Lost in the Puzzle by Natalie Andrade

My plan was to meet me in the back hallway across from room 53. It was the perfect place because of its darkness and secrets. It was my only chance to be alone with him. To seduce him with everything I had. I took out my phone and typed: "Hey, its Vanessa, meet me in the back hallway across from room 53. After lunch. You won't regret it." Then pushed send. I glanced back at him from the front of the classroom to see if he got it. I saw him reach into his pocket for his phone. Then the bell rang. Time for lunch, just one more hour away.

Lunch went by more slower than usual. Finally the bell to fifth period rang and I practically ran to my class. I was going to tell the teacher I had a doctor's appointment. I could feel my nerves slowly building up the escalator that the moment will finally come. Then I noticed the annoying kid who sits next to me, Adam. He kept looking at me like he knew what I was going to do. Shit, I'm just paranoid. I gave him a smile anyway just to be nice. The teacher let me go with no questions asked and I quickly ran to the nearest bathroom to check if I looked decent.

Afterwards I headed to the back hallway and waited. It was so dark. More dark than usual since it was gloomy outside from the storm. I heard the rain splatter on the ground in hard thuds. Or maybe that was the sound of my heart beating its way up my throat. Finally I heard his footsteps. It was too dark for me to make out his face but I just knew it was him. I grabbed for him and kissed his soft lips. At first he pulled back, surprised. But resisting was not the deal and I pushed myself against him. This time he put his arms around me, and he kissed me back so passionately I knew at that moment I was in love with Arnold.

We stayed like that for a while, just kissing, grabbing, our desires finally met halfway. I didn't want this moment to end, and neither did he. The sound of thunder woke us up from our kiss, and our lips slowly parted. I whispered in his ear, "I've been waiting for this day, and now you're finally here Arnold. With me."

Suddenly he let go. Fuck maybe I shouldn't have said that. Was it too much? He stepped back and spoke. But his voice didn't sound like Arnold. I felt dizzy. What did I just do?

"Hello? Are you listening? Why'd you call me Arnold? It's me Adam".

I came into focus to his hand waving in my face. Wow. Seriously. I couldn't believe this

shit. So I turned around and just walked away towards my fifth period class. As I heard

the bell ring in the distance, I checked my phone and realized that I sent that text to

Adam. Not Arnold.
