Part One:Walk-ins by Emilia Morua

Ivy always had natural long locks of red hair and the purest blue eyes you've ever seen. She always got compliments on both of them, sometimes from people she didn't even know. Those people would say stuff like your hair matches your eyes or never cut your hair short otherwise you would ruin its beauty. Sometimes they wouldn't say anything at all. Instead they would ask if they could touch it. Eventually she learned how to tune everyone out with a simple invention called the ipod.

One day she decided to take a break from walking home after school and take the bus. She sat on a bench listening to "Down" by Jay Sean as she waited for the 211 bus to arrive. She noticed that a gray haired, wrinkly, creepy old woman was sitting next to her just staring at her hair with her huge green eyes. She quickly turned away and saw that her bus finally came, saving her from asking what the old woman wanted. She quickly boarded the bus finding an open seat on the left side near the window. She released a sigh of relief when she saw the creepy old woman was still sitting on the bench as the bus pulled away.

As Ivy sat minding her own business listening to her ipod, she felt someone run their hands through her hair. She hunched her shoulders forward quickly moving away from the mysterious hands. She brushed over her hair with her hands to check for anything that might have been stuck into her hair. As soon as she realized nothing was there she continued to listen to her ipod. All of a sudden she felt a tug at the back of her head causing head to hit the back of the seat. She jumped up and turned on her heels to confront the person messing with her. It was as if time stood still because before her was an old woman quickly pulling her hand away. It wasn't any old woman though, it was the creepy old woman from the bus stop.

"I'm sorry, it's just so beautiful." She smiled while reaching for Ivy's hair again.

Ivy backed away from her wondering how in the hell she got on the bus. That's when she noticed that the old woman didn't have any front teeth and was still smiling at her in a creepy way.

"Umm thank-k you." Ivy stammered while reaching for the string along the bus wall.

She pulled the string notifying the bus driver she wanted off. She kept tugging at the string not even realizing that the bus driver was yelling at her.

"I heard you the first time. Now stop pulling the string!" he shouted.

"Oh sorry." She mumbled.

He pulled the bus to a stop and Ivy quickly stepped off and looked back at the old woman. The old woman was waving goodbye with one hand and bringing something red up to her nose. Ivy was in shock when she noticed that the old woman somehow cut some of her hair and was sniffing it like some voodoo freak.

I am never taking a bus in my life again. She thought to herself.

As the bus pulled away she decided it was time for a change, a change that involved her hair. She was walking down Helvetica Ave listening to a song by LiL Wayne when she saw a sign in the window of a tiny boutique. She was over come with so much joy that she couldn't stop smiling to herself. The sign read: Walk-ins Welcomed.
