It was a sunny afternoon in Central Park today. You can see many people all around walking their dogs, pushing strollers, going for a run, and there are even a few birthday parties. It just so happens that Ally and her mother where walking over to one of her friend's birthday party. She arrived thirty minutes late due to the fact that her mother had to make sure outfit, hair, and makeup were perfect. All of the other children have gone off to play on the playground over by the tiny creek. While Ally decide to sit on a bench and watch everything. She watched as her mother mingled with other single mothers at the party, watched her friends play on the playground, and watched a tiny clown car pull up to the party. She counted five clowns tripping out of the car. One by one they picked themselves up and dusted their clown suits off. They moved to the back of the car and opened the trunk pulling three bags out full of props. Ally jumped with surprise as a tiny clown climbed out of the trunk. They walked over to the benches opposite of her and started to set their things up. All of a sudden they stopped what they were doing. Each clowns body has gone still, she could tell something was wrong. Each one of the clowns head shot up one after another. They all turned their head to the right and stared at the trees. Ally slowly turned her head to what they were looking at. She was staring at six large trees and behind those trees six mimes stepped put from behind them. The clowns dropped what they had in their hands, rubber chickens, balloons, and even a few pies, and walked over to the mimes looking as if they were about to fight. Ally quickly got up without being noticed and ran over to the snack table to grab some popcorn. She got back to her bench just as the clowns finally reached the mimes. "What are you doing here?" squeaked the little clown. One of the mimes started to use his hand to say something. The tiny clown interrupted him before he even got a chance to motion one word. "You better use that chalkboard hanging around your neck to talk to me." he said crossing his arms over his chest. The mimes shoulders slumped down as if he was sighing and grabbed his chalkboard. He started to scribble on it as he finished he handed it over to the clown. "We are here for the child's birthday party." read the tiny clown. He laughed, "No we are here to entertain the children, not you fools." He tossed the board into the dirt causing a little dirt storm around their feet. Ally noticed that all of the mimes had a look of shock on their faces when the clown tossed the board down. As the mime bent down to pick up his board the tiny clown stepped on the board pinning the mime and the board itself down. "Did you hear me?" he began, "I said WE are entertaining the children." The mime titled his head to the left looking up at the clown and smiled. His grip on the board tightened as he smiled. He yanked the board as hard as he could out from under the clown. He silently laughed as the tiny clown lost his balance and fell. The other mimes pointed and joined their friend in a silently laughing. Ally laughed quietly to herself, "Let the games begin." |
