            CHARACTERS:

            Narrator – Narrator

            Phoenix Wright – Defense

            Klavier Gavin – Prosecutor

            Judge – Judge

            Culprit – Ricky Thane

            1st Witness – Kennard Bert

            Robert Pattelson – Victim

            Ema Skye – Forensics

Judge: *Gavel banging* Order in the court! Mr. Gavin also brings up a good point; Ricky Thane has not been proven innocent due to this discovery.

Phoenix: Before long I'll prove his innocence, your honor.

Klavier: My my, you shouldn't make promises you can't keep, Herr Wright.

Phoenix: It's not a promise, it's a fact!

Judge: *Gavel bang* Enough! Both of you bicker more than high school girls! Miss Skye, would you please testify about Ricky Thane's arrest?

Ema Skye: I'd be glad to, your honor.

- WITNESS TESTIMONY -

Ema Skye: (1) After the murder, we looked for people who knew about the victim.

(2)   We talked to others at the hotel, but none of them knew the victim.

(3)   We decided to check the victim's cell phone for who he was recently in contact with.

(4)   The only recent contact was some texts to Mr. Thane telling him about his plans to stay at the motel.

(5)   We tracked down Ricky Thane and arrested him.

- WITNESS TESTIMONY END -

Klavier: Simple enough to follow, ja?

Judge: Ja indeed. Mr. Wright, you may begin your cross-examination.

Phoenix: Certainly, your honor.

- CROSS-EXAMINATION -

Ema Skye: (1) After the murder, we looked for people who knew the victim.

Phoenix: [PRESS] Why?

Ema Skye: Murders aren't random, they always happen for a reason. So obviously only somebody he knew or was in contact with would have a motive for murder.

(2)   We talked to others at the hotel, but none of them knew the victim.

Phoenix: [PRESS] How can you be sure all of them were telling the truth?!

Ema Skye: There were sixty-four other people staying at the motel, and every last one of them says they never saw the victim leave his room. Several of them also said they could always hear him in his room except for when he was sleeping. In fact, that's how the body was discovered. One of the neighbors got worried when she couldn't hear anything from his room, so she managed to peek through the window and saw the victim, dead. That's when she called us.

(3)   We decided to check the victim's cell phone for who he was recently in contact with.

Phoenix: [PRESS] That's a violation of privacy!

Klavier: OBJECTION! The dead don't have a right to privacy, Herr Wright. They don't need it.

Judge: Objection sustained. Please continue your testimony, Miss Skye.

Ema Skye: (4) The only recent contact was some texts to Mr. Thane telling him about his plans to stay at the motel.

Phoenix: [PRESS] That doesn't mean anything! He could have told someone a long time ago about his plans!

Ema Skye: Unfortunately, that is not the case. According to the texts, he just made the plans this month. We contacted the company that provides his phone and cell service and they confirmed that the only person he's been in contact with this month was Ricky Thane.

Phoenix: Well, what if he told someone person-to-person?!

Klavier: OBJECTION! Mr. Pattelson was a very busy man. He worked all day and only left to sleep at home. Sometimes he would even just sleep at work. He never had time to meet anyone face-to-face. Well, except for this vacation of his that turned out so well, ja?

Judge: Please continue, Miss Skye.

Ema Skye: (5) We tracked down Ricky Thane and arrested him.

Phoenix: [PRESS] Uhm... where was he when you found him?

Ema Skye: At his house, about ten minutes away from Orange Ox motel.

Phoenix: [End of Options] Crap! I have nothing to go off of here!

Judge: *Gavel bang* This case looks pretty clear to me now. I'm ready to declare a verdict.

Phoenix: No! He'll declare Ricky guilty for sure if I don't do something! What should I do?!

-        Choice 1: Struggle for more time.

-        Choice 2: Admit defeat.

Phoenix: [Choice 2] Maybe I should just give up. I don't have any proof to argue with... Gah! What am I saying?! I can't abandon Ricky like this! He's counting on me! I need to buy us some time!...

Phoenix: [Choice 1 & Choice 2 cont.] OBJECTION! Your honor! The only evidence that has been presented against Ricky is theoretical and most likely coincidental! There's no decisive proof showing that Ricky is guilty!

Klavier: OBJECTION! That's YOUR problem, Herr Wright. The suspect is guilty until proven innocent. I simply need to show that it's possible and likely that Ricky Thane did it; it's YOUR job to give decisive proof showing that my accusations are wrong, which you apparently can't do considering you're trying to stall the end of this trial with your pathetic arguments.

Phoenix: OBJECTION! Your honor! We've only heard from one witness, and it's just someone from the investigation team! We need a REAL witness!

Klavier: OBJECTION! The entire point of the investigation team is to figure out what happened, her testimony is more than adequate!

Judge: *Gavel banging* Order! Order! Both of you be silent!

Phoenix: …

Klavier: …

Judge: Good. Now then; Mr. Gavin, while you are certainly correct, Mr. Wright also has a valid point: one witness just isn't enough for a definite decision. Do you have any other witnesses, Mr. Gavin?

Klavier: Of course. I already prepped him in the case that something like this would happen, too, so he can testify immediately.

Judge: Bring him out, then.

- Witness takes the stand -

Klavier: Name and occupation, please.

Witness: Kennard Burt. I'm the manager of the Orange Ox motel.

Judge: The manager was a witness?!

Klavier: Not just any kind of witness, your honor. He's an eye-witness.

Judge: But Miss Skye's testimony said there were no eye-witnesses!

Klavier: That's not true, your honor. Fraulein Skye said that there were no eye-witnesses among the people staying at the hotel. The manager was not included in that count.

Judge: Hmm… I see. Please begin your testimony, witness.

- WITNESS TESTIMONY –

Kennard: (1) I didn't actually see the entire thing, but I saw enough.

            (2) I peeked into Mr. Pattelson's room when I heard a loud noise around 11:00 am.

            (3) I only opened the door enough to peek inside.

            (4) I saw the defendant standing over Mr. Pattelson's corpse!

            (5) The noise must have been when he fell over after being stabbed with the switchblade.

- WITNESS TESTIMONY END –

Phoenix: Great, this testimony sounds perfect, too.

...! Wait a minute! Did he just say something he shouldn't even know?!

What is this thing that Kennard shouldn't know?

What does this mean?

And why is Drew STILL unable to finish anything on-time?!

The world may never know.

…Until Part 3 is eventually finished.
